The Event

The City of York Triathlon returns to York Sport Village and the 2017 UK Triathlon Race Series for the fourth year running.

A new and improved bike course is planned for 2017 with resurfacing planned for July 2016, more information to follow.

This joint initiative with York Sport has inspired entrants of all abilities to take on the challenge of swim, bike and run in and around The University of York & York Sport Village over the last 3 years and looks set to become a huge event on the York sporting calendar. With 2 distances to choose from and the option to enter as an individual or relay team of three, the triathlon starts with a swim in the heated indoor pool, follows on with a flat multi-lapped bike course and finishes with a run. This spectator friendly venue is perfect for crowds to cheer on competitors and create a fun & relaxed atmosphere so, whether participating or supporting, get colleagues, friends and family involved and be a part of this exciting new event.

  • Located on the university’s safe and attractive Heslington campus close to York city centre
  • Leisure complex pool based swim
  • Fast and flat cycle and run route
  • Chip Timed
  • Swim start, transition & finish line all within close proximity
  • 2017 finishers medal awarded at the finish line
  • Official Race Series Technical T-shirts available to buy online and at the events

There are prizes in all events for both race position and age group winners, with the exception of the Fun distance, which like it says is purely for fun!

Jessica Edwards, Sports Team Executive from Cancer Research UK:

‘Cancer Research UK are really excited to be the official charity partner for the UK Triathlon series and even more excited for the Launch of the Ladies Pink Wave. Our ambition is to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured and without the support of partners like UK Triathlon and the extraordinary generosity of the people taking part in these events, our life-saving work wouldn’t be possible. THANK YOU'.

Just a quick email as I feel compelled to congratulate the teams involved in the York Tri, it was my 1st triathlon and thoroughly enjoyed it. The event was fantastically run with the staff/volunteers been excellent, I've done plenty of 10k's 1/2's marathons, tough mudder types but this was off the scale in comparison. from the minute I attended pre registration to the minute I left.....BUZZING! WELL DONE!!! Lee

Would just like to say a massive thank you to everyone involved in York triathlon 2015. This was my first triathlon event and it was a brilliant experience. All the marshals and event staff were helpful and friendly. Am now looking for more events to enter and want to complete a full ironman distance in the next two years.  Thanks again, Chris.

My first York Tri but 3rd year competing and just wanted to say what a great triathlon this is, really enjoyed the traffic free course, brilliant marshals and facilities, I have already booked for next year! :-) Jeanette
