"It was a great day, well organised, painful, but fun. Thanks to the marshals out on the bike leg, a lonely day for them, but great encouragement when you went past!"

"This was my first Tri and I want to thank UK Triathlon Events, Trentham Gardens, the sponsors and everyone involved in what was a fantastic event in a great setting. I thoroughly enjoyed it and will be competing again next year."

Jim Venn

"Great day, well organised and with excellent marshals, helpers, signposts etc. It all ran like clockwork. Oh and I won my event, perfect!!!!!"

Alison Buckley

"I really enjoyed my first triathlon at Warwickshire so thank you to the organisers! I am very keen to do more now I know what to expect and I also know what to work on. It was a really friendly event and I didn't feel intimidated though was quite apprehensive before starting which made me not concentrate properly on my swim. The cycle was great and the run - well I don't mind mud but it was a bit slippery and I had the most awful stitch which was disappointing as meant I didn't really run how I have been in training. Next time I will be fitter and faster!"

Vicki Howe

"Even in the wind and rain, I managed to enjoy my first ever triathlon yesterday at Stratford. The atmosphere was lovely and the marshals were all very supportive, thanks guys. I was too nervous at the start so my swim wasn't so good but the rest went well. I have also caught the bug and will be doing more events in the future. Thank you for the great organisation of the event."

Samantha Darby

"Guys, amazing job! Was also my first ever triathlon, and won’t be my last!! Got serious bike envy with some of those stunning naked carbon jobs, drooool.. But was over the moon with my time of 1:39:37! I was expecting 2 hours!!!
My girlfriend also loved marshalling with you! Thank you so much for letting her do the T2 exit! Meant she got to help out and watch me finish!!
We will DEFINITELY see you next year!!!"

Russell Aitken

"Hi guys, just got back from the kids fun tri at Alsager and can i congratulate you on a brilliant event, very well organised and run. My son would love to know when the next one will be and has already asked if he can go training with me tomorrow. He is 7 by the way and I think you can safely say he has got the bug! Maybe his enthusiasm will improve my times. Once again thanks for a great day."

David Betteley

"Brilliant event at Henley. It was my first ever tri and I loved it. My family came and cheered me on and also had a great day out. Thank you to all the volunteers and I look forward to doing some more."

Competitor Profile

My name is Leanne Haythorn and I’m part of the UK Triathlon race crew, you will often find me in registration on race days. Unfortunately I have been a triathlon widow for 11 years, I have endured many hours of watching my other half spend most of his spare time swimming, biking, and running. I would very often tell him that he’s completely mad and he would never get me riding a bike again, as I had not rode one since I was a teenager.

Last year I finally agreed to go with him and be part of the race crew at the South Coast Triathlon. After meeting and talking to lots of people of all shapes and sizes, I was inspired and finally decided to have a go myself.

Now I am not a natural athlete, I often have to drag myself to the gym and would much rather prefer going shopping, but I began trying to run more and I also took up some improver swimming lessons. My husband is a qualified swimming coach but like most good wives I never listen to him! I also broke my golden rule and spent my own money on a race bike as opposed to my usual more glamorous purchases of shoes and hand bags. After only around six weeks I completed my very first fun triathlon at the North West Triathlon in September 2010, proof that anyone can give it a go and complete a triathlon.

I now love my bike and on nice days I often choose to ride to work as opposed to taking the car. I’ve been making steady progress over the winter by improving my run fitness, mainly on the treadmill at my local gym, and swimming two to three times per week. This year I am aiming to do my first full sprint distance event and I’m really excited about it.

If you’re attending any of the UK Triathlon Events this year, come and say hello to me registration, unless of course it’s my time to be out there completing it.

So if you’re contemplating doing a triathlon or you're already signed up for your first, then good luck, you’ve got a real treat in store because if I can do it, so can you!
